Join us for a Masterclass in Making with Mixografia as part of our programming for The Female Form: Tom Wesselmann & Mickalene Thomas From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.
Mixografia is an internationally renowned printmaking studio celebrated for pioneering techniques that allow artists to create richly detailed three-dimensional prints on handmade paper. For more than five decades, the print studio has pushed the boundaries of traditional printmaking, developing innovative processes that capture texture, depth, and even moving beyond printing to sculpture.

Mixografia, Los Angeles |
In this special presentation, Shaye Remba, Director of Mixografia, will offer an inside look at the studio’s unique approach to collaboration, craftsmanship, and technological experimentation. He will also share insights into Mixografia’s creative partnership with iconic American artist Tom Wesselmann, highlighting how their work together expanded the expressive possibilities of printmaking and resulted in some of the most dynamic and technically ambitious prints of Wesselmann’s career.
If you are curious about the intersection of art and innovation, this event provides a rare opportunity to learn directly from a leader in contemporary print production and to explore the remarkable fusion of artistry and technique that defines Mixografia’s practice.
About Mixografia
The Remba family has shaped printmaking for three generations. In Mexico City, they developed Mixografia’s signature three-dimensional printing technique before moving to Los Angeles, where they have continued to refine it for over 50 years.
Known for its versatility, the workshop continually explores new ways for artists to push the boundaries of print. Mixografia has produced over 600 editions by 89 artists and exhibited worldwide at institutions including MoMA, LACMA, Museo Reina Sofía, Musée d’Art Moderne, and the National Gallery of Art.
