Just before the program at 10:00am, join Christine and Trina in inaugurating the new seating lounge at the Architecture and Design Center located in the former director’s office.

As part of Fashioning Architecture: What the Runway Borrows from Architecture, Palm Springs Art Museum convenes a conversation between, Christine Vendredi, JoAnn McGrath Executive Director and Chief Curator, and designer Trina Turk, whose work offers a vivid case study in fashion’s ongoing dialogue with modernist architecture.

Through projected imagery and dialogue, the program explores how built form shapes the conception, styling, and photographic framing of fashion, and how, in the process, Trina Turk has crafted a distinct niche that moves beyond conventional Americana. The discussion positions architecture as a dynamic stage for the body, expanding the boundaries between garment, image, and environment.

Reserve your seat today and be part of the conversation at the intersection of fashion and modernism.

About Trina Turk

Since founding her label in 1995, Turk has cultivated a visual language rooted in California modernism and as such embodies California modernism’s sense of space. Her advertising campaigns and lookbooks are staged within architecturally significant residences across Southern California, transforming iconic works into active collaborators. Staging photo shoots at Frey House II by Albert Frey or runways at sites like Marrakesh Country Club in Palm Desert, color, line, and silhouette enter into direct exchange with structure, light, and landscape.

Presented through our Architecture and Design initiative, this event underscores Palm Springs Art Museum’s role as a leading destination for modernism and its legacy. Through exhibitions, programs, and scholarship, we share the stories of Southern California modernity and its global influence.
