Celebrate thirteen years of artistic innovation as Nickerson-Rossi Dance returns to Palm Springs Art Museum for its 13th Anniversary Concert, marking a milestone in the company’s deepening relationship with the region’s most influential arts institution.
This evening of contemporary dance honors the newly established art partnership between NRD and Palm Springs Art Museum — a commitment to uniting performance and visual culture through ongoing exhibitions, performances, educational programming, and collaborative initiatives that elevate the Coachella Valley as a destination for world-class dance.
The program features the highly anticipated revival of DNA and the commanding ensemble work Veni Vedi Vici, both choreographed by NRD Founder and Artistic Director Michael Nickerson-Rossi, known for his sculptural movement language, emotional precision, and cinematic approach to composition. His choreography continues to shape the national landscape of contemporary dance and remains the foundation of NRD’s artistic identity.

A rare restaging by guest choreographer Lori Bryhni adds depth to the program. A long-respected figure in modern and contemporary dance and an early artistic collaborator of Nickerson-Rossi, Bryhni’s influence is rooted in her ability to merge nuanced emotionality with architectural physicality. Her return to NRD marks a meaningful reflection on lineage, mentorship, and the role of women shaping contemporary dance in America.
The evening also introduces a heart-stopping duet performed by Chad Allen Ortiz and Hailee Mitchell, showcasing the powerfully intimate dynamics that have become signature to NRD’s storytelling.

The program expands further with a spotlight on the next generation: the Pre-Professional dancers of the Academy of Nickerson-Rossi Dance. Their work includes choreography by Kim T. Davis, created during the 2026 Summer Dance Series, and an original work by Vincenza Gist, the Academy’s first student to progress from youth training to choreographing for NRD’s mainstage season.
Join us in celebrating the launch of NRD’s 13th season, Chiseled to Essence — a year defined by artistic focus, visionary partnership, and the continued shaping of contemporary dance
