Join us every third Sunday of the month for Family+, a fun and free event for everyone! The museum is transformed into a creative hub where artists, makers, and musicians come together to offer a variety of exciting activities and workshops for kids, teens, and families+.


THIS MONTH'S PROGRAM


Let your creativity flow in the museum atrium and make some keychains, or jewlery. This self paced self guided activity is great for all ages. Follow patterns presented by museum educators or create your own designs. 

Taller Graficant- Eduardo Valadez  
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of linocut printmaking, including essential carving techniques and methods .
We'll begin with a brief exploration of the history of printmaking and learn about the Legacy of Mexican Print Master Guadalupe Posada before diving into the creative process.
Participants will carve and print their own 4x6 reusable block

Nature's Palette: Dyeing with Hibiscus, Cochineal, and Indigo
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll explore the art of natural dyeing using hibiscus, cochineal, and indigo with fibers artist Adriana Lopez-Ospina. Participants will learn to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns on cotton and linen bandanas, harnessing the vibrant colors derived from these plant and insect-based dyes. Experience the magic of nature's hues as you craft wearable art that tells the story of color, culture, and tradition.

Deja fluir tu creatividad en el atrio del museo y crea llaveros o joyas. Esta actividad autoguiada y a tu propio ritmo es ideal para todas las edades. Sigue los patrones presentados por los educadores del museo o crea tus propios diseños.

Taller Graficant- Eduardo Valadez
Este taller práctico introduce a los participantes a los fundamentos del grabado en linóleo, incluyendo técnicas y métodos esenciales de tallado. Comenzaremos con una breve exploración de la historia del grabado y aprenderemos sobre el legado  del grabador  Guadalupe Posada y Taller de Gráfica Popular.

Paleta de la Naturaleza: Teñido con Hibisco, Cochinilla e Índigo
Acompáñanos en un taller práctico donde explorarás el arte del teñido natural con hibisco, cochinilla e índigo con la artista textil Adriana López-Ospina. Aprenderás a crear hermosos y únicos diseños en pañuelos de algodón y lino, aprovechando los vibrantes colores de estos tintes a base de plantas e insectos. Experimenta la magia de los tonos de la naturaleza mientras creas arte para vestir que narra la historia del color, la cultura y la tradición.
