Artist Installation by Yulissa Mendoza
For Día de los Muertos, Palm Springs Art Museum presents a special installation by Yulissa Mendoza, a San Bernardino based photographer and multimedia artist whose work transforms personal and collective memory into spaces of reflection and empowerment.
For this year’s celebration, Mendoza creates an artist altar that honors and elevates tradition through visual language. Blending photography, textiles, and symbolic objects, the installation becomes both a site of remembrance and a statement of belonging, an evolving dreamlike landscape that bridges ancestral memory and contemporary expression.
Corazon de Nopal with John Flores
Join High Desert artist John Flores and decorate your own corazon de nopal inspired by the desert landscape.
Flores created ceramic pieces in his home studio so guests could paint and embellish sculptures of their own. Add your loved ones names and place your artwork on your ofrenda for Dia de los Muertos.
Paper Nichos with Frank Lemus
Create your own paper nichos of various colors and shapes with different screen printed día de los Muertos objects like sugar skulls pan dulce and candles.
Artist Frank Lemus will walk participants through paper weaving and layering to create various elements of a nicho.
