Celebrate Día de los Muertos with Palm Springs Art Museum and the community.

Our theme this year is Recuerdos (Memories). Attendees will experience ofrendas, music, storytelling, and remember family and community members who have departed. This Mexican tradition, deeply ingrained in Indigenous culture, unites families and communities in creating altars adorned with treasured items, ensuring that the memory of those who have passed on lives on forever.

Activities include:

  • Opening Ceremony by Danza Azteca
  • Children’s Corner. Children will hear stories about Día de los Muertos led by Esperanza Mendez, community leader and storyteller. This space is designed for families to relax and find a quiet space in the midst of all the lively activities.
  • Still Life Painting Workshop led by Clara Nieblas, a 2022 Outburst Project Resident Artist at Palm Springs Art Museum
  • Outdoor Mercado. This open-air market includes vendors from across the Coachella Valley; attendees will find ceramics, candles, jewelry, art and clothing.
  • Concert: The Mexican Standoff will play in the Annenberg Theater.
  • Drop-in Activities: Marigolds, Coloring Sheets, Nichos.
  • Polaroid photo booth by Fernando Salazar (Kemp Gallery)
  • Video booth by Bryan Mendez (Gorelik Gallery)
  • Community Altars are on display from various community organizations.
  • Performance by Mariachi Flor de Dahlia
  • Performance by Props 2 Poetry
  • Face Painting by G’z Modern Creations
  • Pop-Up by Liv’s Palms Springs & Michelada Garden

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Little Livs, Café Empatia, Citlali Tamales, and Cool Cactus Candies.
