The late John Renner (1961–2018) was a passionate supporter of the museum, and one of the earliest members of the Photography Collection Council. He assisted with the acquisition of 64 images by Magnum documentary photographers, and regularly funded museum acquisitions, exhibitions, and conservation projects. He served as a volunteer, cataloging major photography gifts including those from Michael Childers’ archive, and modern and contemporary photographs from the collection of Dr. and Mrs. J Patrick Kennedy.

With the support of the museum and John’s close friends and family, the John Renner Memorial Fund for Photography was established earlier this year as a tribute to his passion for photography. All contributions made will support the acquisition, conservation, and preservation of photography at the museum, and will serve as a continuation of John’s work and honor his dedicated leadership in strengthening our photography collection.

During the October 13 event, a special installation of John’s personal collection will be on view with a conversation about his collecting aesthetic between Daniel Cornell, PhD, Curator Emeritus, and Mara Gladstone, PhD, Associate Curator.

Thank you in advance for considering a gift in support of the museum, and John’s legacy.

Generous in-kind support provided by Eight4Nine.
