2-Day Weekender Art Camp - Make Your Mark: The Art of Handmade Brushes with Glenn Grishkoff
Feb 10 & 11, 2018 - Sat & Sun
$200 museum members, $240 nonmembers
To attend, tickets are available through the museum’s box office (760-325-4490).
You will work with Glenn making a series of handmade brushes ideal for ink, watercolor, ceramic applications, acrylic applications, oil painting on canvas & batik to cloth surfaces. Students will observe painting demonstrations and paint with their own brushes during the workshop, in addition to incorporating found brush making materials from nature and one’s personal studio. Students will explore various sizes with tips-from small to large-and unique handle construction methods.
Power Point presentations and detailed instruction will highlight techniques including knot tying, epoxy mixing, cutting & wrapping hairs, and methods to create brush handles. Participants will work with deer tail hair, feathers, ermine tail, moose & elk hair, horsehair, hog bristle, goat hair, squirrel hair and other types of hairs. All workshop materials will be provided. A “what students can bring to the workshop list” will be emailed in advance to assist in the personalization and tailoring of student brushes. A supply reference list will be distributed during the workshop to assist students in knowing where to purchase & find future brush making materials.
Take home all the gorgeous brushes you created and treat yourself every time you paint or give some away to friends and family.
