Western Art Council Presentation - Bill Schenck: Western Pop Art
Artist Bill Schenck focuses on pulp Westerns and movie stills, as well as his own photography of ranch life and rodeos. Influenced by Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement, his work combines myth, truth, and legend with humor and irony. A special ticketed-reception follows the lecture(see page 20 for details).

A stimulating and lively presentation as noted scholars reveal how Warhol harnessed the allure of media images of celebrity, consumer goods, sex, death, and disaster to create his iconic pop art. Attendees are invited to later participate in a moderated discussion with the panelists and Donald Osborne, Vice Co-Chair of Programs, CAC.
