2018 Fine Arts Creativity Awards and Scholarship Program

Finding One’s Voice

April 8 – May 15, 2018

Jorgensen and Marks Gallery.

The 28th annual Fine Arts Creativity Awards and Scholarship Program exhibition will open on Sunday, April 8, 2018, and end on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Public and private high schools in the Coachella Valley and College of the Desert were invited to submit artworks that address the exhibition theme: Finding One’s Voice.

Entries were juried by museum professionals, local artists and gallerists. Jurors considered the creative interpretation of the theme, technical ability, originality, and an imaginative communication of ideas and emotions when making their selections.

The Fine Arts program provides the opportunity for young artists to participate in a juried exhibition and to have their artwork displayed in a professional manner in the museum’s galleries. Each year the variety of student artwork submitted and the statements they make are unique and thought-provoking.

Two artworks will receive the Fine Arts Creativity Purchase Award and be accessioned into the permanent Education Department Collection at the museum. In addition, several other generous monetary awards are presented. Each exhibiting student will receive a certificate of merit and a one-year family membership to the museum.
