We are honored to present a selection of early 20th-century California desert landscape paintings from the collection of Mary Ingebrand-Pohlad.

A trustee of Palm Springs Art Museum, Ingebrand-Pohlad has been collecting art for decades, and this particular group of paintings has grown out of her interest and fascination with the Coachella Valley. This area has drawn artists to seek out and depict the landscape in all of its changing colors and hues, which has been captured in both realistic and impressionistic renderings.

The selection includes works by Maynard Dixon, Edgar Alwin Payne, Louise Everett Nimmo, Millard Sheets, and William Wendt, among others.

This special presentation is organized by the Palm Springs Art Museum and curated by Christine Giles, senior curator.

This season’s exhibitions are sponsored by the Herman & Faye Sarkowsky Charitable Foundation.
