Talking Photography: Thomas Demand
Renowned German artist Thomas Demand discusses his distinctive creative process of photographing large-scale paper models of culturally-significant places. Demand’s images of landscapes, interiors, and buildings appear real, but are in fact large models that are constructed from paper and cardboard, photographed, and then destroyed. His quietly unsettling images question the nature of our collective memory and the complicated relationship between history and photography. This program is organized by the Photography Collection Council, and underwritten by John Renner, Linda Blank, and Richard Hajek & Ed Hutchinson.
