The Artists Council Exhibition is an annual juried exhibition and sale of artwork created by AC members and is exhibited in the museum during the fall of each year. Artists Council members have the opportunity to enter the annual juried exhibition that is accompanied by a catalogue.
2016 Artists Council Exhibition opens at the Palm Springs Art Museum on Saturday, October 1.
Now in its 47th year, the juried exhibition showcases works by over 50 Artists Council members. All artworks are for sale, and 50% of the proceeds support Palm Springs Art Museum’s exhibitions, acquisitions, programs, and general operations.
Works in the exhibit are selected from over 400 submissions by a team of outstanding jurors, who are also curating the show:
- Gerald Clarke, a teacher in the Ethnic Studies Department at the University of California, Riverside, and former Chair of the Visual Arts Department at Idyllwild Arts Academy.
- Susan D. Goodman, collector and Vice Chair, Long Range Planning, Palm Springs Art Museum Board of Trustees.
- Phillip K. Smith, III, a well-known artist, sculptor, and creator of large-scale installations.
The jurors will also name the winners of $10,000 in awards, to be announced at an Awards Program on Saturday, October 29, at 5:30 p.m., in the museum’s Annenberg Theatre. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Museum's Atrium. The public is invited.
