SKETCHING AND PAINTING WITH PASTELS with Margaret Evans
$525 AC members, $575 nonmembers
This workshop is open to all levels from beginner to professional and will include both indoor and plein-air sessions, taking advantage of the scenery of Palm Springs. There will be daily demonstrations, giving you tips and various approaches, including wet and dry techniques, and how to add gouache and/or watercolors to pastels for different effects. You will receive individual instruction and advice on how to take your techniques forward. Discussions about materials will focus on brands, hard versus soft, basic colors, lights, darks and neutrals and how to condense for easy travel and plein-air sessions. Critiques are constructive, so bring an open mind, a willingness to experiment and to try new approaches, and a sense of humor. You will be inspired and maybe even pick up a few Scottish phrases.
