Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins
This performance runs from Friday, November 23 to Sunday, December 2
As told through the eyes of a trusted friend, this is the true-life story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York society eccentric who believed she was a magnificent operatic soprano. Truth be told, she was incapable of singing two consecutive notes in tune. Blissfully unaware of her shortcomings, Florence’s annual recitals at the Ritz Carlton, where she resided, brought her extraordinary fame. As news of her terrible singing spread, so did her celebrity. She became both the toast and the joke of the town.
"Comic brilliance! A laugh riot!" -- The San Francisco Chronicle
"Souvenir is downright hilarious!" -- Boston Globe
"A kind of loony triumph." -- NY Daily News
"Wildly funny and surprisingly touching." -- Time Out NY
