TEEN STUDIO PROJECTS
What is it?
TeenStudio Projects are art classes created especially for teens ages 13-19. Visiting artists present fundamental approaches to art that encourage you to think creatively and develop your own style. You will learn a variety of techniques while working with new practices and materials, all in the comfort of the Palm Springs Art Museum’s galleries and art studios. In addition, TSP gives you a chance to meet other creative and like-minded teens.
• Push boundaries!
• Chart new creative territories.
• Work with contemporary artists.
Summer Session 1: Wet & Wild Watercolor Painting
Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert
Tuesday-Friday, July 14-17
Teaching Artist: Taunyo Jones-Hidalgo
Explore the exciting medium of watercolor! Learn how to choose the right brushes, paint, and paper; mix and apply paint; and correct mistakes all while saving the white of the paper. You will experiment with exciting tricks and techniques while getting a good feel for this unique, enjoyable, and beautiful style of art. With an emphasis on personal creativity, you will be encouraged to express your individuality in a fun and relaxed environment.
Summer Session 2: Experiments in Digital Photography
Palm Springs Art Museum
Teaching Artist: Chari Godakanda
In this digital photography and Adobe Photoshop® workshop led by Chari Godakanda, you will expand your knowledge of digital photography and learn image editing. With the museum’s new cameras you can now turn it off “automatic” and learn how to take a quality photograph by learning about aperture, f/stop, and light control. You will then learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop® to modify and enhance your images. On the last day print and mount your photographs for an exhibition. If you have a camera, bring it, otherwise the museum will provide one for your use.
Palm Springs Art Museum members: $95 per session
Nonmembers: $115 per session
