DOCENT COUNCIL

The Palm Springs Art Museum's Docent Council is made up of generous volunteers who love art and sharing the treasures of the art world with our guests! Council members receive extensive training in art tours and talks and are rewarded with camaraderie, lectures, special art workshops, yearly enrichment trips and the smiles of visitors!

Docent Training
Lecture Hall

Intensive training for docents to conduct school tours for all age levels begins with a three-day orientation. The next training session will begin in November 2010. You learn age-level appropriateness, discover how to make a tour happen using questions, and explore the art museum's wonderful collection and much more. Spanish-speaking applicants are especially desired! Candidates should be outgoing, interested in art and excited to learn new things.

Docent Enrichment Trip

With sufficient funding in place to provide transportation for any and all Coachella Valley school children to the art museum, things are jumping for the Docent Council. Every day busses pull up and let out dozens of children for a two-hour Writing Tour or a two-hour Eyes On/Hands On tour and the Docents are happy to oblige. As a reward for their hard work, enrichment trips are planned through the year.
