The Artists Council is over 350 members strong and supports the museum and local artists in a number of ways. The Workshops program offers a variety of classes where adults can learn and enhance their skills in a number of disciplines, from beginning to advanced levels. The popular Life Drawing sessions are held on Saturdays per the schedule for four hours. The Artists Council Exhibition is an annual juried exhibition and sale of artwork created by AC members and is hung in the Jorgensen Gallery and Marks Graphics Center during the fall of each year. 99 Bucks is a sale of small canvases, created by the famous and the infamous – but artists' names are not revealed until after the sale. In addition, there are member events, including field trips and demonstrations and lectures, given throughout the year as well as the annual Holiday Party and Membership Drive. The Sidonia Milano Artists Council Center is located on the Lower Level of the museum and is a wonderful site for workshops and meetings.

The Palm Springs Art Museum has two locations in the Coachella Valley: The flagship building is located in downtown Palm Springs and features compelling art exhibitions and a vast permanent collection, all on view in 150,000 square feet, architecturally significant building. The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert is an 8,400 square foot, Silver LEED-certified building named The Galen that presents changing exhibitions and collections. It is surrounded by the four-acre Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden that features more than 10 significant sculpture works. Both museum locations are open to the public with free admission every Thursday evening from 4-8 p.m. and the Palm Springs facility offers free admission and programming the second Sunday of each month.
